Sharjah 24: Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work (SAVW) continues to receive applications for participation in its twenty-second edition until January 15, 2025, for registration in this edition.
The award allows registration through its website https://sva.shj.ae, where individual and institutional participants will compete for 14 award categories, according to the approved terms and standards.
SAVW called on all individuals and institutions wishing to participate to expedite the submission of their applications, stressing the importance of adhering to the specified deadline to ensure inclusion of entries in the competition, as the awards include 14 diverse awards.
The "Model Volunteer" Award targets individuals and families who excel in volunteer work and who represent a good example in community giving. Nominations for this award are made by relevant governmental and civil entities.
The "Best Suburb in Volunteer Work" Award is dedicated to the councils of suburbs and villages in the Emirate of Sharjah. The award aims to encourage communities in the emirate's regions and cities to actively participate in promoting and supporting volunteer work at the neighborhood and suburb level.
The "Excellence in Social Responsibility" Award aims to motivate institutions of all sizes, from start-ups to large companies, to adopt innovative social initiatives that contribute to improving community well-being and promoting social responsibility. The "Best Volunteer Opportunity Creator" Award is given to governmental and civil entities and volunteer teams that provide pioneering projects for sustainable volunteer opportunities that inspire community service.
The "Distinguished Volunteer Supporter Award" is given to entities or individuals who provide financial or cognitive support, or develop policies for volunteer work projects and initiatives, embodying the principle of social responsibility.
The "Best Volunteer Initiative Award" is given to government, civil, or private sector entities, volunteer teams, individuals, or families, in recognition of their volunteer work that contributes to community development and improving the standard of living.
As for the "Record Number of Volunteer Hours Award", it is given to civil institutions, volunteer teams, individuals, and families who contribute their efforts and time to implementing volunteer programmes to serve the community.
As for the "University Student Award for the Highest Volunteer Participation", it is given to Emirati students who are distinguished by the highest volunteer hours during the year of participation, while the "Knight of Volunteer Work Award" is given to school students across the country who achieve the highest volunteer hours.
The award also honours the elderly through the “Asalah Award for Best Volunteer Participation,” and people with disabilities through the “Himma Award for Best Volunteer Participation” for individuals who record the highest volunteer hours in various fields.
The “Best Civil Society Award” is dedicated to organisations that excel in volunteer work and providing community services; and the “Best Volunteer Team Award” is dedicated to teams that have a positive impact on society, in addition to the “Best Young Leader of Volunteer Teams Award,” which is given to a young leader who has inspiring leadership qualities and stands out as an exceptional leader capable of motivating his team to achieve excellence.
On this occasion, Dr. Jassim Al Hammadi, Secretary-General of SAVW, stressed the award’s keenness to develop its programmes in line with the path of volunteer work in the Emirate of Sharjah, and to maintain its leadership by making distinguished efforts to support volunteer work at the level of individuals and institutions.
Al Hammadi also expressed the award's commitment to honouring the distinguished efforts of volunteers from individuals, institutions, community leaders and pioneers of initiatives who have made distinguished contributions in various fields, noting that the award always seeks to highlight distinguished initiatives that contribute to building a cohesive and responsible society, calling on all individuals and institutions to actively participate in this edition and contribute to spreading and promoting the culture of volunteering.
Fatima Musa Al Belushi, Executive Director of SAVW, explained that the door to participation in the twenty-second edition of the award will remain open until January 15, 2025, noting that this period provides an opportunity for those wishing to register and submit their contributions. She added that the award highlights diversity and inclusiveness in supporting volunteer efforts, which motivates the promotion of participation and innovation in the field of volunteer work.
Al Belushi pointed out that once the registration period ends, the arbitration and evaluation stages will begin to select the winners of the current edition, and their names will be announced at the official honouring ceremony scheduled to be held in 2025, noting that the award aims to enhance the values of volunteering and encourage individuals and institutions to launch innovative humanitarian and social initiatives that serve society and enhance sustainable development.
