Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation (SSEF) organised a workshop titled “Skin Care” for the foundation’s female orphans, in cooperation with Dr. Sawsan Al Mulla, a specialist in dermatology, cosmetics and laser at Sawsan Medical Centre.
The workshop benefited 25 girls, and included educational information about proper skin care methods and free individual examinations for each participant.

Nawal Al Hamdi, Director of the Social Welfare Department, said: “Within the framework of enhancing health and beauty awareness among girls, we wanted through this workshop to contribute to improving the quality of life of orphan girls by empowering them with the knowledge and care necessary for skin care. The workshop aimed to enhance girls’ awareness of the importance of skin care as part of general health, and to provide them with knowledge on how to deal with daily skin problems using scientific and sound methods. Girls were given the opportunity to benefit from personalised advice based on comprehensive assessments of their skin condition during the examinations provided by the cooperating doctor.”

She added: “We thank Dr. Susan Al Mulla’s distinguished humanitarian initiative and her fruitful cooperation with the Foundation in providing the awareness workshop and free examinations for girls, which reflects the high sense of social responsibility and the great keenness to support deserving groups, by empowering them and providing them with the knowledge and care necessary to improve the quality of their lives. We look forward to continuing constructive cooperation with members of the community to serve our members and achieve our common goals in supporting and empowering orphans.”

In a statement by Dr. Susan Al Mulla: “Skin care is not just a beauty step, but rather an essential part of maintaining general health, self-confidence, and preventing skin problems. The skin is the first barrier that protects the body from harmful environmental factors such as pollution and sunlight, which makes taking care of it necessary to ensure its safety and health. Through this workshop, I wanted to contribute to supporting orphan girls and providing them with information and services. Through this cooperation with the Foundation, we aim to enable girls to learn the basics of skin care and maintaining its health by following correct and appropriate methods. It is a humanitarian initiative and a societal message that we all strive to achieve. Social solidarity is one of the basic pillars of building a cohesive and stable society, and through it the social fabric is strengthened and comprehensive development of society is achieved.”

The workshop was well received by the girls who expressed their gratitude for this initiative, pointing out the great benefit they gained from the information and tests, as it witnessed great interaction from the girls, and advice was provided tailored to each case based on the free tests that were conducted. Promoting health care is an essential part of the Foundation's responsibilities towards orphans and their guardians, as this interest constitutes one of the effective mechanisms for promoting public health, and this is done by providing comprehensive health care projects and services that meet their health needs.
