The programme, which targets students with learning difficulties between the ages of 13 and 20, includes a variety of activities and practical workshops, where students will learn the art of drawing on boards and candles. Students will undergo an interactive educational experience that aims to enhance logical thinking, creativity and innovation skills by learning the basic concepts of robotics and programming, in addition to training on various executive functions through specialised workshops such as "Response Arts" and "Thinking Challenge Games", which enhances flexibility and sustained attention and develop participants' abilities to plan and organise.
The programme enjoys the participation of a number of specialised trainers who will present the workshops in an interactive manner that encourages students to participate and learn effectively and enhance their motivation to learn. The programme, which comes with the support of Sharjah Safari and Sharjah Museums Authority, also includes outdoor activities, recreational trips and various workshops that aim to stimulate learning among students in a fun and effective way.
Her Excellency Dr. Hanadi Al Suwaidi, Director of SCLD said that the centre is committed to providing the best programmes to empower people with learning difficulties by integrating creative activities into educational programmes due to their importance as an effective tool for developing students’ skills and overcoming learning challenges. She stressed that the winter programme includes creative activities that contribute to expanding children’s imagination, encouraging them to think, and developing their sense of exploration and experimentation so that they can express themselves in different ways and build their confidence in their abilities.
Al Suwaidi pointed out the centre is keen to remain an incubator for creativity and innovation by organising purposeful recreational events and activities that enhance students’ creative and motor skills to enable them to discover and develop their talents, in addition to overcoming learning challenges with confidence and flexibility.
Dr. Hanadi Al Suwaidi added that the launch of the winter programme comes as a continuation of SCLD ongoing efforts throughout the year and its belief that people with learning difficulties have latent abilities that should enable them to express themselves through creative activities enhancing their self-confidence and developing their skills in various fields.
Al Suwaidi noted that the winter programme activities help targeted students communicate with others and build positive social relationships, which enhances their integration into society, and embodies the centre's endeavour to provide integrated training services that help students benefit from them.
The programme includes various artistic workshops, such as painting on boards, painting on candles, robotics, response arts, and thinking challenge games, in addition to training activities on flexibility and sustained attention, and developing participants' abilities to plan and organise.
