SCC Committee discusses 2025 Sharjah Government general budget

Sharjah 24: Halima Humaid Al Owais, Vice Chairman of Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC), chaired the meeting held, on Wednesday, at the council’s headquarters in Sharjah, which was held in the presence of representatives of Sharjah Finance Department.
The meeting discussed the draft law of the general budget for Sharjah government departments and bodies for the fiscal year 2025.

The meeting was attended by members of the committee who play a major role in studying, analsing and making recommendations on the budget. The meeting was attended by Rashid Abdullah bin Howaiden, Chairman of SCC Financial, Economic and Industrial Affairs Committee; Fatima Khalifa Al Muqrab, committee’s rapporteur; Amer Mohammed Al Zarouni; Engineer Nabil bin Butti Al Muhairi; Abdullah Taresh Al Ketbi; Tariq Murad Mirza Al Belushi; and Mohammed Abdullah Al Belushi. In addition to the presence of Mohammed Ali bin Salim Al Ketbi, member of the council.

The meeting was also attended by Ahmed Saeed Al Jarwan, Secretary General of the Council; Yousef Hassan Al Ali, Legal Advisor to the Council; Abdulaziz bin Khadem, Deputy Director of the Parliamentary Affairs Department; and Amna Basalib, Secretary of the Sessions Affairs Officer.

From Sharjah Finance Department, the meeting was attended by Waleed Ibrahim Al Sayegh, Director General of the Department; Sheikh Rashid bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Director of the Department; Marwa Abdul Aziz Al Suwaidi, Director of the Budget, Planning and Finance Department; Nour Abdul Rahman Shahil, Head of the Infrastructure and Capital Projects Budget Section; Alia Abdullah Al Sheikh, Head of the Government Administration Budget Section; Sheikha Abdul Basit Abu Al Zoud, Head of the Social Development Budget Section; and Majid Omar Al Zarouni, Head of the Economic Development Budget Section.

Al Sayegh provided a detailed explanation of the 2025 general budget, reviewing the figures included in the budget, comparisons of revenues and expenditures, and patterns of expenditure distribution according to different sectors. Al Sayegh explained that the focus of the 2025 budget is on service and infrastructure projects, in addition to enhancing human development areas in health, education, and social care, in line with the ambitious development trends of Sharjah government.

The committee also discussed some of the detailed items of the budget, where it presented a number of visions and observations on the included revenues and expenditures, and the details of the distribution of expenditures across the various sections of the budget.

The committee members praised the efforts made by Sharjah Finance Department in preparing the budget, which is one of the basic tools that reflects the government's strategic directions and enhances the quality of services provided to citizens and residents of the Emirate of Sharjah.

At the end of the meeting, Rashid Abdullah bin Howaiden pointed out that the role of the committee lies in studying and analysing all aspects of the budget accurately, which contributes to enhancing the sustainability of the emirate's growth and the well-being of its residents.

Rashid Abdullah bin Howaiden stressed that the 2025 general budget will be pivotal in achieving sustainable development and driving the economy in Sharjah, in line with the vision of the wise leadership. He stated that the committee will submit its final report to SCC in the next meeting, which will be held on December 19, to be discussed under the parliamentary dome of the Council.
