Sharjah 24: The second day of the World Congress 2025, titled "We Are Inclusion," took place at the Expo Centre Sharjah, hosted by the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS). The day's events focused on the important contributions of self-advocates in promoting the rights of people with disabilities.Dr Asmaa Al Darmaki, who leads the SCHS Kalba branch, emphasized that a workshop was held, where survivors and experts from around the world shared powerful stories. They discussed how self-advocates play a crucial role in helping individuals with disabilities as they go through rehabilitation and training. The workshop also highlighted the need for creating supportive environments that empower these advocates.

In an interview with “Sharjah 24,” Dr Al Darmaki mentioned that the workshop led to several key recommendations. One of the main calls was to improve the social inclusion of people with disabilities, specifically by supporting self-advocates and encouraging them to take an active role in their communities. She stressed the importance of giving these individuals the space and freedom to share their experiences, which can help build strong support networks and enhance teamwork.

The congress serves as a global platform for sharing the best ideas and successful experiences in the field of inclusion and empowerment. Its goal is to help shape a better future for people with disabilities, allowing them to live with dignity and actively participate in society.
