Sharjah Ruler Grant celebrates Sharjah Women Clubs athletes

Sharjah 24: In an atmosphere filled with pride and honour, Sharjah Women's Sports hosted, at Sharjah Olympic Centre for Women's Sports, a ceremony to celebrate the grant of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to honour the achievements of Sharjah Women's Sports Clubs.
The ceremony aimed to highlight the contributions of the clubs' athletes during the past sports season, as the clubs saw remarkable excellence by achieving 532 various medals, including 172 gold medals, 182 silver medals, and 178 bronze medals, in different sports.

This achievement reflects the remarkable development seen by women's sports in the Emirate of Sharjah, thanks to the great support and continuous interest of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of Sharjah Women's Sports and wife of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

Achievements varied between individual sports, such as fencing, athletics, karate, judo, shooting, table tennis, archery, and taekwondo, in addition to team sports, such as basketball and volleyball.

In her speech during the ceremony, Her Excellency Hanan Al Mahmoud, Vice Chairperson of Sharjah Women's Sports, stressed that this day represents a celebration of the efforts of the players and the hard work that they have put in throughout the year. 

Her Excellency Hanan Al Mahmoud said that this award is not just a tribute to achievements, but rather a certificate of appreciation for the spirit of perseverance and determination that players have shown in all fields. Athletes today are ambassadors of Emirati women's sports, and this achievement motivates everyone to work to achieve more successes. 

Al Mahmoud added that the support of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and his wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, is the cornerstone of successes. The leadership has provided an integrated sports environment that encourages excellence and development, which ensures the building of a sports generation capable of competing globally.

Her Excellency Moza Al Shamsi, Director of Sharjah Women’s Sports, stressed the importance of the grant, saying it confirms the status of women’s sports in the Emirate of Sharjah, and the pivotal role of the club in empowering women in sports. The achievements celebrated today are the result of the efforts of an integrated work system that begins with the players and passes through the technical and administrative departments, all the way to the great support provided by the wise leadership. The institution vision is to continue to provide more initiatives that enable female athletes to achieve their ambitions and reach the highest ranks.

Ms. Mai Al Ameri, Deputy Director of Sharjah Women’s Sports Club, praised the spirit of teamwork, saying that the ceremony is the result of continuous teamwork that reflects the vision of Sharjah Women’s Sports in supporting Emirati female athletes. She added that everyone is proud of every achievement and every moment of effort that resulted in these successes. 

Fajr Al Marzouqi, fencer and master of ceremonies, said in her speech that it is a great honour to be among all the champions who have raised the UAE flag high in various fora. This day is not only a tribute to achievements, but also a celebration of the hard work and perseverance that led to achieve these accomplishments. Today’s honour is a strong push to continue to provide the best and strive to achieve more.

Hessa Al Awadhi, archery player, added that today’s honour means a lot to players. It is a reminder that hard work always yields positive results. “We are grateful to everyone who contributed to our successes, and we will continue to do our best to raise the name of the UAE in all forums.”

Alia Al Naqbi, basketball player, expressed her gratitude for Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher’s constant follow-up of the live broadcast of the matches and her messages of encouragement to the team. Al Naqbi added that this follow-up and this honour are living proof of the deep appreciation that is given to players. This support means that every effort and every moment of fatigue are valuable and meaningful. 

As for Maryam Ahmed Al Marzouqi, fencing player, she expressed her feelings by saying that she cannot describe how proud she is of this honour that highlights the importance of the work and effort in the field. It is not only an honour for the players achievements, but a message that carries within it encouragement to continue and provide the best.

The ceremony concluded with group photos of the winning teams, distinguished players, and the administrative and technical staff, in a joyful atmosphere that celebrated the excellence of women’s sports in Sharjah. The ceremony confirmed the commitment of Sharjah Women’s Sports to achieving its vision aimed at promoting women’s sports as an integral part of the sports development scene in the UAE.
