Sharjah 24: The UAE national football team secured a commanding 5-0 victory over Qatar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, in a match held on Tuesday at Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Fabio Lima opened the scoring in the 4th minute with a powerful left-foot shot after a cross from Yahya Al Ghassani. Lima doubled the lead in the 45th minute, converting a penalty following a foul on Hareb Abdullah by a Qatari defender.
Lima completed his hat-trick in the 50th minute with another powerful shot from outside the box, before adding a fourth in the 56th minute with a penalty awarded for a foul on Al Ghassani by the Qatari goalkeeper. Yahya Al Ghassani sealed the win in the 74th minute, scoring with a precise left-foot shot inside the penalty area.
The dominant performance further boosts the UAE's hopes in Group One of the World Cup qualifiers.
