Sharjah24: The England national team boosted its chances of promotion to the top tier of the UEFA Nations League with an impressive 3-0 victory against host Greece in the fifth round of Group B.
In another match in the same group, Ireland defeated Finland 1-0.

At Karaiskakis Stadium in Piraeus, the Three Lions ended the first half in the lead with a goal scored by Ollie Watkins of Aston Villa in the seventh minute.

The second goal came from an own goal by Odysseas Vlachodimos, the Newcastle United goalkeeper, after a shot from Jude Bellingham hit the post in the 78th minute. Curtis Jones from Liverpool confirmed England's victory by scoring the third goal with a backheel shot seven minutes before the end.

At Croker Park Stadium in Dublin, Brighton striker Evan Ferguson starred by scoring the winning goal for Ireland in the dying moments of the first half.

Both England and Greece share the top spot with 12 points, but England leads on head-to-head results. Ireland is in third place with 6 points, while Finland remains at the bottom with no points after suffering its fifth consecutive loss.

The final sixth round will be crucial in determining the group leader, with England hosting Ireland and Greece visiting Finland next Sunday.
