Sharjah24: Amid the presence of numerous department heads, directors, and public figures in the emirate, Sharjah Charity International recently sent 200 individuals with limited income to Mecca to perform the Umrah rituals. This initiative, part of the “Facilitating Umrah” project, aims to help many fulfill their dream of participating in these significant religious rites.
Mohammed Ibrahim bin Nassar, the Director of Corporate Communications and Marketing and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for the Umrah Facilitation Campaign, expressed that the Umrah Facilitation Project is a key initiative the Sharjah Charity is dedicated to carrying out throughout the year. This project aims to help those who aspire to perform Umrah rituals but may be unable to do so due to financial constraints. Additionally, the initiative highlights the importance of solidarity within society, encouraging individuals to support the project. It is rooted in the principles of Islamic law, which promote the value of helping one another to benefit all members of the community.

The project's supreme committee proactively initiated preparations for the campaign by engaging with Hajj and Umrah service providers to identify optimal offers that align with the SCI's goals of maintaining cost-effectiveness while ensuring high service quality. This includes securing accommodations for pilgrims in proximity to the Holy Mosques in Mecca and Medina, along with provisions for meals, visa processing, and the deployment of modern, air-conditioned transportation for efficient mobility of pilgrims. Additionally, the SCI allocated personal expense allowances for each pilgrim to facilitate their individual needs throughout the duration of the Umrah pilgrimage.

Ibn Nassar highlighted that the Umrah project stands out as a highly effective initiative operating year-round. It extends support to various marginalized groups, including individuals with disabilities, students, and cancer patients. Over the past five years, the project has benefitted nearly 5,000 pilgrims. Plans are underway to further amplify the number of beneficiaries in the upcoming annual campaigns, aligning with the objective of meeting the aspirations of a broader segment of the underprivileged population. The Sharjah Charity acknowledges and appreciates the invaluable contributions of benefactors, who play a crucial role in facilitating its campaigns and advancing its mission effectively.
