SPSA honor gov entities meeting business continuity standard

Sharjah24: The Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority recently recognised the second group of government agencies that successfully met the National Standard for Business Continuity Management System (AE/SCNS/NCEMA 7000:2021) criteria, as established by the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority. This honor reflects the commitment of these agencies to ensuring the continuity of essential operations and their efforts in building effective systems for managing crises and emergencies.

The ceremony was attended by His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Saqr Al Qasimi, who serves as the Chairman of the Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority and heads the Business Continuity Committee in Sharjah. Also in attendance was His Excellency Brigadier Dr. Ahmed Saeed Al Naour, the Director General of Central Operations at Sharjah Police, along with His Excellency Obaid Rashid Al Hossan Al Shamsi, the Deputy Chairman of the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority.

This group of honored government entities featured several institutions that excelled in implementing innovative plans and strategies to maintain business continuity. Their efforts highlight a steadfast commitment to enhancing their capabilities and improving their readiness to tackle potential challenges.

Major General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, the Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police and the Head of the Local Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management Team in Sharjah, stressed the crucial role of implementing the National Standard for Business Continuity Management System (AE/SCNS/NCEMA 7000:2021). This initiative aims to bolster the preparedness and responsiveness of governmental agencies in Sharjah, enabling them to swiftly and effectively tackle emergencies, crises, and disaster situations.

This recognition is seen as a vital step in Sharjah's journey to becoming a safe and sustainable emirate, well-equipped to tackle future challenges both effectively and efficiently. It strengthens the emirate's reputation as one of the safest and most resilient cities in the region when it comes to crisis management.

Engineer Noura Al Hammadi, the Head of the Readiness Section at the Authority, emphasized that recognizing these entities is an integral part of the Authority's strategy to promote readiness and emergency preparedness across all levels. She expressed hope that this recognition will serve as a motivation for other entities to strive towards meeting business continuity standards, ultimately contributing to the enhancement of institutional and societal security within the emirate.
