Sharjah24: Holy Quran Academy in Sharjah, in collaboration with Al Qasimia University, organized a lecture on Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Nasser Saadi , focusing on his life, scholarly personality, and social relationships. The lecture was presented by his grandson, Dr. Abdulaziz Saleh Al-Shibl, a professor of modern and contemporary history at Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
The event was attended by Dr. Khalifa Musabeh bin Ahmed Al Teneiji, Chairman of Holy Quran Academy in Sharjah (HQA), His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Khalaf Al-Hosani, Secretary-General of the Quran Academy, His Excellency Jamal Al-Tarifi, President of Al Qasimia University, Prof. Dr. Awad Al Khalaf, Chancellor of Al Qasimia University (AQU), along with several officials and an audience of over 1,000 researchers and students interested in the life and knowledge of Sheikh Al-Saadi.
The lecture highlighted the journey of Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Nasser Al-Saadi and the key stages that shaped his rich career in Quran interpretation, jurisprudence, and fundamental issues of creed. He was known for addressing topics that were not common at the time, reflecting his understanding, analytical skills, and scientific formation. His approach was characterized by facilitation, influenced by the teachings of Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyah. He was known for his humility, patience, and wisdom, firmly rooted in knowledge.
Dr. Al-Shibl noted that Sheikh Al-Saadi’s writings on Quran interpretation featured clear and straightforward language, making them accessible to the general public. He authored many unique works in Quran interpretation, jurisprudence, and creed. He also established the National Library in Unayzah, Saudi Arabia, and served as a preacher and imam of the Grand Mosque there.
Dr. Engineer Khalifa Musabah Al-Teneiji emphasized that the care for the Quran, its sciences, and its scholars is a unique feature of Sharjah, which is making significant efforts to realize the vision established by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. This vision focuses on promoting knowledge, honoring scholars, and valuing their significant contributions to education, which has built the intellectual and scientific capacities of individuals, making Sharjah a beacon of culture and knowledge.
He stated that the sincere efforts made by Sharjah, as evidenced by the remarkable attendance at this lecture, are the fruits of the positive seeds sown by His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah in his appreciation for scholars of the Quran and its sciences. He pointed out that His Highness’s reception of the grandchildren of Sheikh Al-Saadi is a recognition of their role in documenting his vast scientific legacy and presenting it to future generations as a tribute to those of knowledge and learning, supporting the efforts of scholars in teaching and preserving their sciences to contribute to the advancement of human civilization and enhance its values.
It is noteworthy that Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Nasser bin Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Sa’di was born in Unayzah, Qassim, Saudi Arabia, on the 12th of Muharram, 1307 AH / 1889 AD. He memorized the Quran at the age of eleven and received extensive education in various fields of knowledge, starting his teaching career at the age of 23. Among his notable students were Sheikh Muhammad bin Salih Al-Uthaymeen and Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Ayqal, may Allah have mercy on them.
