Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Electricity, Water, and Gas Authority (SEWA) has completed a number of road lighting projects in the Central Region as part of its ongoing development plan to provide optimal services in all areas. A total of 188 new lighting poles and fixtures were installed, with 9 km of cables extended, at a cost of AED 2.2 million to light the roads in Al Ruweida, in the Mleiha area.
Eng. Khalifa Mohammed Al Tunaiji, Director of the Central Region at SEWA, noted that the authority continues to carry out lighting projects across the Central Region. This includes replacing 432 fixtures with energy-efficient lights in Al Sweih area near Al Sweih Schools Road, renewing the lighting on Mahafiz Al-Fayah Road, and connecting 7 transformers to 7 lighting poles. Maintenance work was also completed on 205 streetlight poles in the residential areas, as well as on 137 lighting poles, with a total cost of AED 1.3 million.
He further highlighted additional projects, including lighting the Tal Al Zaafran cemetery with 14 poles and 28 LED 150W fixtures, extending 1,000 meters of cable. Similarly, lighting was installed in Jebel Omar cemetery, with 8 poles and 16 LED 150W fixtures, and 500 meters of cable extended. Additionally, 10 poles and 17 LED 150W fixtures were installed along the cemetery road in Al Dhaid, with a 700-meter cable extension.
