Sharjah24: Khalida Shaheel, Head of the Archive Department at the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, stated that the institute celebrated World Day for Audiovisual Heritage on Monday under the theme "Your Window to the World," with the participation of several local entities in the country.
Khalida Shaheel mentioned that the institute primarily targeted school and university students with the aim of educating them and preserving audiovisual heritage. The event included a journey with several stations, starting with the cinema corner, which showcased excerpts from film material in the institute's archive. This was followed by a restoration corner featuring a workshop to teach restoration techniques and display previously restored samples, along with a time travel corner that exhibited old audio and visual devices borrowed from personal museums.
Khalida Shaheel added, in statements to "Sharjah 24," that students were trained to conduct oral interviews with individuals who carry cultural heritage through the "Generations Speak" corner. The event also displayed a collection of old cameras and artworks from the Emirates Photography Society, while the Sharjah Museums Authority organized an interactive workshop for the students.
