Sharjah 24: During a recent visit to the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ICESCO) headquarters in Rabat, Morocco, Sheikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah’s Department of Government Relations (DGR), discussed with Dr. Salim AlMalik, Director-General of ICESCO, opportunities for strengthening collaboration on shared initiatives in line with both parties' visions in the fields of education, science, and culture.
Dr. AlMalik expressed his appreciation for the ongoing support of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. He praised the emirate’s contributions to cultural and scientific initiatives. Discussions included the upcoming opening of ICESCO’s regional office in Sharjah, which is set to become a key centre for knowledge and cultural exchange in the region.

Sheikh Fahim conveyed greetings from the Ruler of Sharjah and noted that his visit was in line with His Highness’s directives to deepen the partnership with ICESCO and collaborate on initiatives aligned with Sharjah’s cultural and developmental project.

During the discussions, Dr. AlMalik shared ICESCO’s new strategic direction, which focuses on establishing the organisation as a global hub for knowledge and civilisation by actively engaging member states to address their needs and priorities.

Following the initial meeting, Sheikh Fahim and Dr. AlMalik joined an extended meeting with key officials, including Dr. Abdelilah Benarafa, Deputy Director-General of ICESCO, and Salem Omar Salem, Director of ICESCO’s Regional office in Sharjah, exploring future joint projects and initiatives between the two sides.

Sheikh Fahim concluded his visit with a tour of the ongoing exhibition and museum dedicated to the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Islamic civilisation, held at ICESCO headquarters in collaboration with the Muslim World League and the Mohammadia League of Scholars.
