ALEGS holds the 2nd Counterpart Agencies officials meeting

Sharjah 24: Arabic Language Educational Centre for Gulf States (ALECGS) one of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS) bodies, held remotely its second meeting of officials of the Arabic language Counterpart Agencies, on Wednesday, as part of its current 2023-2024 session.
The meeting was attended by ABEGS representatives of the member states, and the meeting was held under the chairmanship of His Excellency Dr. Issa Saleh Al Hammadi, Director of ALECGS and in the presence of the members of ALECGS Board of Trustees.

The meeting comes within ALECGS plan and programmes for the current 2023-2024 session, and the programme focuses on continuing communication and meetings with ALECGS members of the Board of Trustees (as an advisory council) to provide advice and propose projects and programmes to develop the centre's performance and plans.

The meeting enhances communication with the competent bodies in the field of Arabic language in the ministries of education, to exchange experiences and expertise, and to learn about the best modern practices applied in the member states in the field of developing Arabic language teaching and learning.

The meeting aimed to exchange educational experiences and best modern practices between the member states, by a presentation of the best practices and experiences in developing Arabic language curricula, and in employing modern technologies in teaching and learning Arabic.

The meeting included proposing projects, plans and programmes in the field of developing Arabic language teaching and learning, establishing procedures and mechanisms to activate the centre's outcomes, establishing a mechanism for member states, exchanging educational experiences and best modern practices between member states in the field of developing Arabic language teaching and learning, in addition to studying the reality of the educational field in developing Arabic language teaching and learning, identifying problems, and proposing solutions and initiatives.

His Excellency Dr. Issa Saleh Al Hammadi, Director of the ALECGS, began the meeting with his speech, expressing his thanks and appreciation to the Ministries of Education of ABEGS member states for their great interest and efforts to support the convening of this meeting, as well as supporting the Centre's progress in implementing its plans and programmes.

Al Hammadi then presented a report on the progress of work in ALECGS programmes for the current session, including the approved programmes of the Centre for the current 2023-2024session, additional activities and programmes, as well as the proposed ALECGS programmes for the next 2026-2025 session, in addition to the publications of the Educational Center for ALECGS programmes.

During the meeting, the best practices and experiences in developing Arabic language curricula were reviewed by representatives of the Ministries of Education in the member states (UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait). 

Professor Dr. Mahmoud Jalal Al Din Suleiman also presented a scientific paper entitled "Applications of Linguistic and Semantic Theories in Teaching Arabic".

The discussion was opened to exchange educational experiences and best practices among member states in the field of developing Arabic language teaching and learning, in addition to proposing projects, plans and programmes in the field of developing Arabic language teaching and learning. 

The discussion included developing procedures and mechanisms to activate the centre's outcomes, and developing a mechanism for member states, in addition to studying the reality of the educational field in developing Arabic language teaching and learning, identifying problems, and proposing solutions and initiatives. 

At the end of the meeting, the participants expressed their appreciation for the efforts made by the ALECGS, and stressed the importance of continuing cooperation and exchanging experiences to enhance Arabic language teaching in member states. They also stressed the need to implement the recommendations and proposals submitted to achieve the desired goals. 

Dr. Issa Saleh Al Hammadi concluded the meeting by thanking all participants, expressing his hope that these joint efforts will contribute to raising the level of Arabic language teaching and developing its curricula in the future.
