Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) received a delegation from Sharjah Municipality at the authority’s headquarters with the aim of holding a coordination meeting to enhance the process of quality and institutional excellence and to review the best practices applied in the authority with regard to quality practices and benchmarking between the two sides in this field.
Aisha Hussein Abdullah, Director of Strategy and Institutional Development Department at the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA), explained that the visit of the delegation from the Strategic Planning Department at the Sharjah Municipality to the authority came within the framework of the permanent cooperation between the authority and government departments to support the path of excellence and leadership adopted by the Government of Sharjah and to provide an opportunity for both sides to enhance the path of quality and institutional excellence.

She stressed that during the meeting, the authority’s efforts were discussed in the field of quality and institutional excellence and its role in supporting continuous improvement and the quality of operations and projects implemented by the authority to meet the requirements of ISO standards that are compatible with its departments and needs. Along with meeting the procedures for renewing ISO specifications and all stages of annual renewal and implementing corrective and preventive measures in organisational units and periodically auditing procedures and documents in a manner consistent with best practices and the requirements of international quality standards. In addition to reviewing the policies and procedures of departments on an annual basis, conducting annual surveys to evaluate employee satisfaction and the work environment, and how to prepare award files at the local and global levels, and working on gap analysis for the seven-star system for subscriber service centres. The mechanism for periodic evaluation and management review of quality outputs was also discussed.

She pointed out that during the meeting, the role of the Quality and Institutional Excellence Department in the authority was reviewed, as well as following up on all procedures and its role in analysing gaps, internal audit reports, corrective measures, and contributing to identifying appropriate improvement opportunities for each department with the work team, which improves and develops the work environment.
