Sharjah24: The Sharjah Charity International (SCI) continues to receive applications for participation in the tenth mass wedding within the country, including a number of young people who are about to get married from those with limited income, similar to the mass wedding projects implemented by the association in previous years.
Ali Mohammed Al Rashidi, the head of the Supreme Committee for the Mass Wedding project, stated that SCI is continuing to receive applications from those wishing to participate in the mass wedding ceremony. He mentioned that the submitted files are immediately reviewed by a specialized committee upon submission to SCI, indicating that the door for submitting applications for participation in the project by young people about to get married will remain open until the targeted number of 150 young men with limited income from the citizens of the country, sons of citizens, holders of decrees, and children of residents who have provided significant services to the country, is reached.

He confirmed that the mass wedding represents the approach of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, may God protect him. His invitation to organize mass weddings in 1990 was the first in the Middle East, an idea that was unprecedented at the time but has become a leading and customary project organized from time to time in many countries around the world following His Highness's call, as the mass wedding project holds great value and has a significant impact in supporting family stability, the chastity of young men and women, and also serves as a clear call to combat the issue of high dowries, which is a pressing concern for young people and a reason for avoiding marriage.

Al Rashidi pointed out that within the goals of  SCI and in line with the approach of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, many mass weddings have been implemented, witnessing the marriage of many financially disadvantaged young people in the UAE, in addition to hundreds of young people in many countries targeted by the association's projects abroad.

Al Rashidi explained that the Supreme Committee for the Mass Wedding project has set several conditions for approving the submitted participation requests, including that the applicant has not been previously married or divorced, is a citizen of the country, a holder of decrees, or a child of female citizens with limited income who are unable to meet the costs and requirements of marriage. Exceptions are made for individuals who are responsible for the role of head of the family due to the death or incapacity of their father, and for the children of residents who have provided valuable services to the country, with the mandatory attendance of both spouses at the educational courses and lectures organized by SCI.

Al Rashidi urged financially disadvantaged young people who are about to get married to benefit from the mass wedding project and to apply for participation through SCI's website or by calling the toll-free number 80014."
