These institutions include: Sharjah Police - Central Region Police Department, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Port Security - Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department - Eastern Region, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Port Security - General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs - Sharjah, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Port Security - Happiness Customers Center - Sharjah, Sharjah City Municipality, Dibba Al-Hisn City Municipality, University of Sharjah - Student Forum Building, University of Sharjah - Sharjah Academy of Astronomy, Space Sciences & Technology, Sharjah Housing Department - Sharjah Branch, Sharjah Housing Department - Khorfakkan Branch, Kalba Specialized Dental Center, Sharjah Museums Authority - Sharjah Science Museum, Sharjah Museums Authority - Sharjah Heritage Museum, Sharjah Museums Authority - Sharjah Art Museum, and Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority.
The award aims to create a sustainable comprehensive physical, health, social, economic, and urban environment that enables the elderly residents to benefit from its resources seamlessly, leading to effective healthy aging. Consequently, the winning institution will be bestowed with the title "Senior-Friendly Institution."
It is worth mentioning that 21 institutions applied for the award, of which 15 met 80% of the established criteria. These criteria revolve around the architectural environment, services, facilities, and social empowerment, ensuring consideration for elderly stakeholders. The goal is to motivate all institutions to adapt and enhance their facilities and services to cater to the needs of seniors.
The award is based on three strategic principles: sustainability through the continuous offering of programs and activities, equality by working with seniors on the principles of fairness and justice, and advocacy by supporting the idea that Sharjah is an age-friendly city.
