The festival, commenced on Friday, being hosted by the Theatre Administration of the Department of Culture at the Kalba Cultural Centre, is set to continue through Tuesday, October 1st.

The opening ceremony saw the presence of Sheikh Saeed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Deputy Chief of Sharjah Rulers Office in Khorfakkan, and Sheikh Haitham bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Deputy Head of the Office of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah in Kalba. They were joined by the Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Culture, Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, along with a significant gathering of officials, artists, and theatre enthusiasts.

Al Zaabi has revealed that 12 theatrical performances have been chosen to compete for the festival's awards from a total of 34 applications, adding that the opening day showcased two plays: The Guest, directed by Mohammed Abdullah and inspired by the short story The Hymn of Blood, alongside The Revolution of the Dead.

This year’s edition celebrates the distinguished artist Yousef Al Kaabi for his outstanding contributions to theatre. The festival features not only performances but also a series of intellectual and practical seminars, alongside two cultural forums. One forum will concentrate on short performances and theatre training, while the other marks the 10th Sharjah Theatre Research Forum.
