The campaign aims to raise children awareness of the importance of preserving the environment; develop their sense of responsibility and reject negative environmental behaviours; and empower them with all knowledge in the field of sustainability.
The campaign includes a number of activities, initiatives, cultural and artistic events and educational trips to the most important environmental projects in the Emirate of Sharjah. The campaign also engage children in agricultural workshops, which will be supervised by specialised farmers and agricultural engineers. The most prominent of the workshops that will be implemented during the campaign is the "Art of Recycling" workshop, during which children will implement recycled models to decorate the centres’ gardens with cheerful shapes and colours; the gardening workshop, during which children will be taught how to grow and care for various crops; and the beekeeping workshop, during which a week will be dedicated to activities that enhance the concept of honey and bees and their importance in human life; in addition to organising other workshops and events.
It is worth noting that the launch of the "Plant It" campaign will coincide with competitions for children; with the aim of raising their environmental awareness and encouraging them to participate actively in environmental programmes.
Sharjah Children, affiliated with the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Future Leaders and Innovators, has been, since its launch in 1985, one of the main pillars in achieving the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and his wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Future Leaders and Innovators, in building a balanced personality for the emerging generations and motivating them to be able to take their role in the future by preparing them comprehensively through cultural, artistic, skill-based, technical, recreational and sports programmes and activities for children aged 6-12 years, all of which serve the framework of refining their educational and cognitive skills and expanding their horizons.
