UOS, Burjeel Holdings sign MoU to enhance medical education

Sharjah24 : The University of Sharjah (UOS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Burjeel Holdings PLC, a leading super-specialty healthcare services provider, to enhance research, educational, and outreach opportunities for students, faculty, and staff. The MoU was signed by Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies at UOS, and Mr. Bruno Dsouza, Chief Operating Officer - Dubai & Northern Emirates, Burjeel Holdings.
The MoU outlines a collaborative framework between the two parties, focusing on medical research, consultancy, academic studies, and the organization of conferences, workshops, and seminars. It also emphasizes joint clinical and translational research activities, while establishing academic and training programs for students, faculty, and staff. Furthermore, the MoU aims to enhance access to shared resources, facilities, and educational expertise to support these initiatives.

Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies at UOS, pointed out that the collaboration with Burjeel Holdings will contribute to the development of medical and health research. It will also enhance the practical skills and experiences of students by providing internship opportunities, thereby preparing a generation of healthcare specialists to serve the community.
 
Dr. Tahani Alqadiri, Group Director - Emiratization and Academics at Burjeel Holdings, said: “Our partnership with UOS reinforces Burjeel Holdings’ commitment to advancing medical education, clinical research, and innovation in healthcare. This collaboration will provide exceptional training opportunities for health sciences students, ensuring the development of future healthcare professionals equipped with the expertise and practical experience to excel.”

The signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Rabih Halwani, Acting Director of the Institute of Medical and Health Sciences Research, and Dr. Noura Alkarbi, Head of Research Outreach Department, UOS. In addition to attendees from Burjeel Holdings including Dr. Tahani Alqadiri, Mr. Yehya Salah Kayed, Director Operations, Burjeel Specialty Hospital - Sharjah, Dr. Salam Swaid, Senior Manager, Academic Affairs, Ms. Alya Almazrouei, Manager, Outreach and Stakeholders Engagement, and Dr. Alfred Anarcon Dahbi, Assistant Director of Nursing – Nursing Education.
