Dibba Al-Hisn Municipality Hosts Workshops on Waste Management

September 15, 2024 / 2:33 PM
Sharjah24: Dibba Al-Hisn Municipality, in collaboration with "Bee'ah" company, organised a series of educational workshops for its employees on optimal household waste management, methods of waste segregation, and how to handle different bins and the types of waste that should be disposed of in each. The workshops also aimed to promote a circular economy by raising awareness about the importance of recycling various types of waste, particularly cans, plastic containers, and cooking oils, to reduce the environmental burden.
These workshops are part of the municipality's continuous efforts to achieve a sustainable environmental community, with a focus on awareness to change negative behaviours towards the environment. They also contribute to efficient and effective waste management, ensuring proper waste handling, and addressing challenges faced by the municipality in this area, such as random littering and the lack of awareness regarding the importance of sustainable household waste management.

A total of 170 Dibba Al-Hisn Municipality employees participated in the workshop, which was held at the municipality's headquarters and presented by a team of experts from Bee'ah, specialising in scientific methods of waste management and recycling that protect and sustain the environment.

As part of the initiative, Bee'ah, in collaboration with the municipality, distributed two differently coloured bins – blue and green – to each household in the city, with instructions on what types of waste should be placed in each.

His Excellency Talib Abdullah Al Yahyai, Director of the Municipality, stated: "This workshop is part of the municipality's ongoing efforts to develop and enhance employee efficiency, raise the quality of life standards in the city, protect the environment and its natural resources, reduce pollution, and promote public awareness of proper waste management and recycling. Our aim is to excel in providing modern services that benefit all members of the community and make optimal use of municipal facilities, while also strengthening community participation between the municipality and all sectors of society."

Al Yahyai thanked Bee'ah for "its significant efforts in maintaining environmental sustainability, raising public awareness about proper waste management, and promoting a culture of health, safety, and environmental responsibility among institutions and employees across various cities and regions of the country." He further emphasised "the importance of partnerships between the municipality and various government and private institutions in providing the best services for the city's residents."
