SSC celebrates conclusion of its summer programme

Sharjah 24: On Saturday, September 14, the Sharjah Sports Council (SSC) concluded its summer programme, "Our Unique Holiday,” at the Sharjah Education Academy. The event honoured the champions of its tenth edition, which ran from July 1 to August 1.
The programme featured activities from 18 sports and specialised clubs for children aged 7 to 12 and 13 to 17. The ceremony was a success, marked by enthusiastic participation and celebration of the winners.

The ceremony saw the presence of Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, along with Board of Directors members, Dr. Yasser Omar Al Dokhi, Director of the Sports and Community Events Department and Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Summer Committee, as well as heads and members of club boards, committee members, and club participants.

The ceremony began with the national anthem, followed by a Quran recitation and a short film about the programme’s activities. Dr. Yasser Al Dokhi, head of the programme, then delivered a speech. 

Honorees included the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, Sharjah Sports Authority, Sharjah Youth, Sharjah Museums Authority, the Sharjah Education Academy, the organiser, participating clubs, and Issa Hilal. Special recognition was given to closing ceremony presenters Ali Al Hammadi from Khorfakkan Sports Club and Hadef Al Marzouqi from Al Hamriyah Club, as well as Khalid Al Hammadi, host of “Our Children Are First.” Innovator Ali Al Logani also spoke about the club’s role in character building, highlighting his roles in the Emirati Children’s Parliament and as president of the Sharjah Generations Volunteer Team for Al Bataeh Club.

During the main part of the ceremony, award winners were honoured: Mleiha Cultural Sports Club took first place in the sports clubs category, Al Madam Cultural Sports Club secured second place, and Al Bataeh Cultural Sports Club and Dibba Al Hisn Cultural Sports Club shared third place.

In the specialised clubs category, Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club claimed first place, Al Thiqah Club for Handicapped earned second place, and Sharjah Cultural Chess Club took third. The General Excellence Shield Award and the Distinguished Club in Applying All Award Criteria were awarded to Al Hamriyah Cultural Sports Club.

In the Creative Initiatives category, Dibba Al Hisn Club took first place, followed by Khorfakkan Cultural Sports Club in second, and Al Dhaid Cultural Sports Club in third. The Best Award for Organising Joint Competitions went to Kalba Cultural Sports Club. Additionally, Al Madam Cultural Sports Club received the Best Participating Club Award and secured top positions in the joint competitions.

Issa Hilal Al Hazami expressed his delight at the success of the tenth edition of “Our Unique Holiday,” highlighting that it reflects the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs. He noted that the programme enriches leisure time, enhances cultural development, and inspires talent in the emirate. He extended his thanks to all contributors, institutions, and teams involved, and emphasised the Council’s commitment to continually support and improve the summer programme each year.
