Sharjah24: The Sharjah men's basketball team finished as runners-up in the 5th Sharjah International Basketball Championship, earning silver medals after a 69-60 loss to Lebanon's Hoops in the final. The match took place on Tuesday evening at Al-Batayeh Sports and Cultural Club, as part of the tournament organised by the Sharjah Sports Council in partnership with Jam Club. The competition featured six teams from five countries: the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, and Lebanon.
Sheikh Majid bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Districts Affairs Department, awarded the Lebanese Hoops team the championship trophy and gold medals, while the Sharjah team received the second-place trophy and silver medals. The ceremony was attended by His Excellency Issa Hilal Al-Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, and His Excellency Khalid Issa Al-Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Club.

Sharjah's participation in the tournament was part of their preparation for the 2024-2025 sports season, which kicks off on September 15 with the Cup competition, followed by the General League starting on October 4.

Sharjah has previously won the championship twice: once in February 2014 against Egypt's Al-Jazira team in the second edition, and again in March 2023, defeating Lebanon's Antonine team in the fourth edition.
