Ghazal highlights importance of govt comm. in supporting refugees

Sharjah24: On the second day of the 13th edition of the International Government Communication Forum (IGCF), the Sharjah24 news website provided a real window to shed light on one of the sessions focusing on the “Refugees” and its humanitarian issues by interviewing Maya Ghazal, a Syrian refugee, the first female pilot, and UNHCR’s Goodwill Ambassador, who spared no effort to highlight the importance of government communication in supporting refugees.
Maya Ghazal stated that the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) organized the session “ Changing the Narrative - Empowering Refugees as a Path to Breaking Stereotypes” with the participation of Rosa Piro, Director of Arada Foundation, Latifa Al Qemzi, Director General of DP World Charity.

Maya Ghazal emphasized the importance of providing education and basic needs for refugees to ensure a better quality of life. She also stressed the need to adopt new perspectives that break the previous stereotypes of refugees and enhance their opportunities in the job market.

Maya noted that international forums like the IGCF play a crucial role in enhancing communication and conveying the messages of refugees globally. She highlighted the importance of building empathy between the public and refugees for more effective support.
