SCFA’s Cultural Office celebrates Emirati Women's Day

Sharjah 24: As part of the country’s celebrations of Emirati Women’s Day, the Cultural Office of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs (SCFA) in Sharjah organised a poetry evening in Al Yaqout Hall at Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre.
A group of Emirati poets participated in the poetry evening, including poet Asma Al Hammadi, poet Mahra Mohammed, poet Al Hanouf Mohammed, and poet Maryam Al Zarouni. The session was moderated by poet Najat Al Dhaheri.

The Chairperson of the Cultural Office of the SCFA, Her Excellency Salha Obaid Ghabash, welcomed the female poet guests, the ladies and girls present and all attendees, and congratulated them on this occasion that is dear to all, "Emirati Women's Day," praising their great role and the efforts they exert to advance each in her field, stating that every woman has a different field and arena in giving to this country, which deserves a lot from us, and stressing the role of female poets and the importance of creativity in the Emirati poetry arena. 

The session was moderated by poet Najat Al Dhaheri, who praised the directives and efforts of the “Mother of the Nation,” Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, in serving women. Al Dhaheri said: "It is a day of pride. We are proud of ourselves as the daughters of the Mother of the Nation, and the daughters of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who sought to empower women in the United Arab Emirates, and saw his happiness in that. We are proud of the achievements of every woman on this good land."

In turn, poet Asma Al Hammadi praised Sharjah’s cultural role and what the wise leadership offers in all fields in general, and in the cultural and literary field, and in the poetry arena in particular, stressing the importance of the efforts made by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs (SCFA) in Sharjah, to advance Emirati women in all fields, and provide them with the opportunity to express themselves and their community through all means and capabilities.
