SIH conducts session on Ruler’s book “Alkhinjar Almarhun”

Sharjah24: Dr Abdulaziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the Institute, and heritage researcher Dr Salem Al-Tunaiji attended a heritage session titled "Alkhinjar Almarhun" (The Pawned Dagger): Features of the Cultural History of the Emirate of Sharjah."
The session included in-depth readings of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi's book (The Pawned Dagger), Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. A group of Emirati heritage scholars and researchers attended the session, which Minni Bounamah presented at the Cultural Heritage Activities Centre (Al-Bayt Al-Gharbi).

Dr Abdulaziz Al-Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, stated, "We held a cultural session to read "The Pawned Dagger" by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, attended by a select group of university professors, heritage researchers, and interested individuals." 

He stated that the session focused on the significant insights that His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah included in his book, which represent his real-life experience in developing his culture and building his library.

Al Musallam hailed His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah's pioneering role in Sharjah's cultural development, beginning with the early stages of the cultural initiative. He stated that His Highness witnessed and watched the early stages of Sharjah's culture, developing a love of books and libraries at a young age. This devotion was crucial in shaping his cultural understanding and directing Sharjah along its cultural path, which has become a defining feature. Sharjah has received various global titles as a result of its cultural dedication, establishing itself as the Arab and Islamic cultural capital.

Al Musallam emphasised that in his book, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah recalled a succession of inspiring anecdotes that have illuminated the emirate's cultural avenues and fuelled the desire of writers and innovators to draw from its bountiful source.

Dr. Salem Al Tunaiji discussed the impact of culture on His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah's intellectual development, emphasising how he was inspired by his environment and surroundings and how he, in turn, influenced people around him through his love of books and reading.

Al Tunaiji noted that His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah's cultural approach has left a lasting cultural mark on the emirate, giving it a considerable reputation and standing around the world because of its cultural identity.

He also discussed Sharjah's cultural successes, which include the Sharjah International Book Fair, Sharjah Public Libraries, and the Sheikh Sultan Al Qasimi Centre, among others.

The attendees discussed Sharjah's cultural standing, UAE society's history, and the importance of the state's first generation of citizens in cultural growth. They also looked into the experiences of the nations and peoples they connected with through trade.
