Sharjah 24: Mohammad Musabah Al Tunaiji, General Coordinator of Al Dhaid Date Festival, announced the start of the eighth edition of the festival, organised by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the Dhaid Expo Centre. The festival's activities will run until July 28.
Wide participation from palm owners, farmers, industrialists, and productive families, alongside several official entities are taking part in the festival’s activities.

He further stated to “Sharjah 24” that the Al Dhaid Date Festival receives generous support from His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. He added that the festival has seen continuous growth in participation year after year. He highlighted that the organising committee is adapting to the festival's expansion and increasing demand for participation. Farmers recognise its crucial role in supporting and developing the palm cultivation sector and preserving cultural heritage associated with this revered tree. This enhances Al Dhaid’s stature as a leading centre for palm cultivation in the region, showcasing diverse and high-quality Emirati date varieties through events and competitions that promote participation and competition. This approach has attracted more farmers, investors, and youth, broadening participation in the event. Moreover, the festival offers advisory services to farmers to enhance their production quality, alongside various engaging events appealing to diverse age groups.

He mentioned that the Al Dhaid Date Festival features a wide array of events aimed at showcasing the UAE's rich heritage in palm cultivation. The festival hosts five main competitions characterised by fierce competition across various categories. These competitions adhere to specific standards, specifications, and conditions, ensuring the quality and purity of locally grown dates.

Al Tunaiji highlighted that the festival serves as a significant agricultural and economic event. Its primary goals include fostering greater interest in palm cultivation, promoting best practices among farm owners to safeguard palm trees and improve product quality. These efforts ultimately contribute to bolstering food security and advancing agricultural development.
