Sharjah24: His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, stated that the selection of Emirati international volleyball referee Hamed Al Russi to officiate the volleyball competitions at the Paris 2024 Olympics is a source of pride for Emirati sports, as it is the second time he represents the UAE internationally after the Beijing 2020 Olympics. His statement came during the reception of the international referee at the Council's headquarters before his departure to France to participate in the event, where he was selected by the International Volleyball Federation to participate in managing the matches among the elite referees of the world, which adds a new distinction to Al Russi's long and eventful career in international refereeing, as he has participated in managing matches of the men's and women's World League and has become one of the world-renowned names in the sport.

The meeting was attended by Mohamed Obaid Al Hosani, Director of the Sports Affairs and Development Department, Jassim Al Doukhi, Head of the Individual Games Department, and Omran Al Jassmi, Head of the Talents Department.

SSC's Chairman affirmed that Al Russi has become one of the most distinguished referees at the Arab, continental and global levels, and his brilliance continues with his participation in refereeing at the Paris Olympics after honoring the UAE at the Beijing Olympics.
