Sharjah24: In the second quarter of this year, Sharjah Children, an initiative of the Rubu’ Qarn, acknowledged the achievements of 23 outstanding boys and girls participating in the "Mandoos Stories" program. This program is designed to enhance narrative criticism skills, foster knowledge and information acquisition, improve writing proficiency, and cultivate the creative aptitude of children. Its goal is to inspire diverse approaches to reading, as well as to equip children with the essential skills of reading and writing.
The 'Mandoos Stories' program is not your typical reading initiative. It's a hands-on, interactive experience that engages children in the narrative of a book, bridging its events with real-life experiences. The program encompasses challenges in reading, writing, audio-visual comprehension, and hands-on experiments. Each stage spans a week, during which participants engage in diverse activities related to the selected book. This interactive approach not only makes reading fun, but also instills a love for reading in children and helps them develop a deeper understanding of the text.
The program is designed to engage a specific group of children, culminating in a ceremony where participants showcase their personal growth in reading stories and performing theatrical scenes. They also reflect on the challenges they have overcome and discuss how this undertaking has heightened their awareness of the importance of books and reading, as well as its role in their overall skill development.
Noura Al Shamsi, Deputy Director of Sharjah Children, emphasized that the program provides workshops aimed at elevating children's reading abilities and nurturing various skills within them. These skills include enriching their linguistic and cultural knowledge, honing their storytelling and theatrical writing capabilities, and cultivating a sense of curiosity and exploration.
She has affirmed that the child was given considerable attention and nurturing throughout the program's presentation. This was achieved by establishing an environment that is both inspiring and intellectually stimulating, fostering the child's exposure to novel experiences and facilitating the utilization of contemporary technologies and innovative instructional approaches. It is emphasized that the primary focus of the program lies in augmenting children's potential, thereby contributing significantly to their future development and the enhancement of their inherent talents and proficiencies.
