Sharjah 24: In an attractive, interactive atmosphere, Sharjah Youth, affiliated with the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators, launched the Skills Lab, for the third year in a row, organised in its centere in each of Wasit Youth, Khorfakkan Youth, Kalba Youth, and Dibba Al Hisn Youth, under the slogan “Where Skill Meets Pleasure” as part of its activities “Your Summer with us” 2024.
Skills Lab comes in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and his wife, Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairwoman of the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators, to sponsor young people in the age group 13 to 18 years, enhancing their role in society, through a number of innovative programmes and activities that are consistent with the vision of the Foundation, which is “a community partner in building and empowering conscious and influential generations”.
The Skills Lab agenda was designed according to a professional and systematic approach that confirms Sharjah Youth’s endeavour to provide a safe and appropriate environment to meet the interests of young people, which contributes to discovering and supporting their talents and directing them towards excellence, in addition to providing the UAE with distinguished minds and skilled people in various fields. The Skills Lab agenda includes more than 100 foundation programmes, characterised by richness and diversity to enhance the capabilities of the people of the Emirate of Sharjah in various sciences. Main 10 labs are the Professional Skills Lab, the Fine Arts Lab, the Science and Technology Lab, and the Cinematic Arts Lab, in addition to the Youth Studio, Story in a Bottle, the Sports Activities Lab, and the Islamic Civilization Arts Lab, in addition to Auto Racing Lab, Crafts and Creative Industry Lab.
Participants in the Professional Skills Lab will learn about car mechanics, electrical connections, home maintenance, and the basics of designing architectural models and preparing healthy dishes. Through the Cinematic Arts Lab, young people will participate in a series of specialised programmes and workshops related to photography, lighting, sound, and the skills of conducting artistic montage, scripting, and directing.
In the Fine Arts Lab, participants will experience learning table-making skills, the basics of terrarium art, carpet shaping, and pottery shaping. The Science and Technology Lab works to provide participants with the skills and techniques of 3D design engineering, electronics, drones, electric vehicles, and robot engineering.
The Story in a Bottle Lab is a free space for participants to acquire the skills of making models, the arts of writing short stories, the skills of voice colouring, and artistic recording. Fans of professional photography and voice-over have a share of Youth Studio’s programmes, which enhance the participants’ creativity in animation and image editing using artificial intelligence techniques.
The Sports Activities Lab includes many specialised programmes in the sports field, with the aim of giving members the correct sports skills, including: teaching swimming, teaching the basics of self-defense sports (judo, taekwondo), in addition to physical fitness programmes and the basics of futsal.
The Islamic Civilization Arts Lab takes participants on a creative journey through learning the arts of Islamic decoration, Arabic calligraphy, Ebro art, and book making. This is in addition to the Racing Cars Lab, training participants to design and manufacture racing cars, as well as the Creative Crafts and Industry Lab, which takes participants towards mastering the skills of carpet shaping, preparing healthy dishes, and making daggers.
