Sharjah 24: The activities of the ninth annual Souq Al Jubail Dates Festival were launched in Souq Al Jubail in Sharjah, which will be hosted until the end of next September, with wide participation from the owners of date shops present in Souq Al Jubail and a number of external participants.
Engineer Abdullah Al Shamsi, Director of Sharjah City Markets, explained that the date festival is one of the events that Souq Al Jubail is keen to organise every year, given the great demand that the market witnesses by citizens, residents and visitors alike, as it is one of the most important marketing and prominent tourist destinations in the Emirate. In addition to its distinguished location in the heart of the city.
He added that organising this festival comes within the framework of the great interest that Sharjah attaches to supporting and encouraging local production of all national products, including dates, in conjunction with the date production season in the country, with the aim of supporting efforts aimed at achieving food security, and the interest and keenness to develop the date sector.
The Director of Sharjah City Markets stressed that the festival represents an important opportunity to introduce visitors to the finest types of local and imported dates from Oman, in addition to achieving the market’s role in stimulating the economic movement in the Emirate, as the festival attracts visitors and merchants from inside and outside the country, specifically at the level of the Arabian Gulf region.
Al Shamsi invited everyone to visit the festival and learn about the types of Emirati dates, their health and nutritional benefits, their production methods, and the many types of food that go into making them.
The festival displays various types of dates, which are renewed periodically in terms of types, to meet the various desires of visitors.
