SDHR supports “Future Skills and Employment Trends”

Sharjah 24: Sharjah Department for Human Resources (SDHR), in cooperation with the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council (NAFIS), and the Higher Colleges of Technology, at the headquarters of the Cultural Palace in Sharjah, organised a seminar on future skills and employment trends. The seminars aims at supporting the career paths of job seekers and enabling them to choose private sector jobs that suit their ambitions and educational qualifications.
This came in the presence of representatives of Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council (NAFIS), the Higher Colleges of Technology, and job seekers parents, college and university students, and job seekers, reaching 168 participants.

The seminar reflects the directives of the wise leadership regarding the necessity of qualitative investment in upcoming national professionals, introducing them to the skills of the future, and improving their readiness to keep pace with major transformations in business institutions by enabling them to possess these skills.

The seminar, presented by Aisha Al Ruwaimah, career advisor at the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council (NAFIS), introduced participants to the skills related to the future in the labour market, how to prepare for career success, in addition to learning about the advantages of working in the private sector, and ways to keep up with changes and possess high professional capabilities.

The meeting then reviewed inspiring success stories of national professionals who worked in the private sector in different fields and specialisations with the encouragement and support of “NAFIS” programme, and they were able, with their abilities and competencies, to attract the attention of major private sector companies at the UAE level. Ammar Hassan Al Marzouqi, Technical Strategy Officer at Microsoft, discussed a success story on challenges and excellence.

The event was accompanied by the organisation of an open employment day event in cooperation with the Higher Colleges of Technology, in the presence of 16 companies and private sector entities, which presented a group of job vacancies in various specialisations. In addition to organising immediate job interviews, activating direct communication between company recruitment officials and candidates to fill available vacancies, and discussing the nature of work.

His Excellency Engineer Omar Khalfan bin Huraymel Al Shamsi expressed the highest expressions of appreciation and gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for his wise directives and his unlimited efforts to identify the needs of the people of the emirate, support youth and provide appropriate job opportunities for citizens looking for jobs. 

Al Shamsi stated that in order to achieve the lofty vision and follow in the footsteps of the wise leadership, the seminar was organised in cooperation with the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council (NAFIS), with the aim of raising professional awareness among job seekers, and shaping the future of skills and employment trends in business sectors.

Al Shamsi explained the importance of the role of the private sector as a founding partner in the UAE development process. He added that it is an ambitious sector that thrives on innovation and an attractive environment full of success stories. 

Al Shamsi stressed that enhancing citizen participation in their work and functions is an imperative role undertaken by all governments.

Al Shamsi appreciated the role played by the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council (NAFIS), enhancing localization efforts. He thanked the permanent partners, the Higher Colleges of Technology, and SDHR for their generous hospitality.
