Sharjah 24: The Health, Labour and Social Affairs Committee of Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) reviewed the medical and therapeutic services and the integrated environment available for patient care at the University Hospital Sharjah.
The committee’s visit comes within the first regular session of the eleventh legislative term and the plan it aspires to integrate with SCC vision and members efforts in serving the community, touching on important issues, and inspecting aspects of public services.
This visit was also organised as part of a series of inspection tours carried out by the committee to determine the level of health services in various health facilities in Sharjah, and to exchange ideas and suggestions to improve the level of health care provided to citizens and residents.
The council’s delegation from the Health Affairs Committee included Mohammed Saleh Al Ali, Chairman of the Committee; and was attended by members of the Committee, Dr. Hind Saleh Al Hajri, Rapporteur of the Committee; Dr. Ruqaya Rashid Al Zaabi, Issa Abdulrahim Al Zarouni; Ali Salem Al Shamsi; Ahmed Salem Humaidi Al Ketbi; Khalfan Saif Al Musafri; and from the General Secretariat of the council, Abdulaziz bin Khadem, Deputy Director of the Parliamentary Affairs Department.
The committee was received by Dr. Khalifa Al Nuaimi, Executive Director; Professor Hakam Yassin, Medical Director; Abdulrahman Al Tamimi, Director of Nursing; Prasanna Holmani, Director of Financial and Administrative Affairs; Dr. Khadija Al Zarouni, Head of Department and Consultant of Family Medicine; Engineer Noura Al Awadhi, Director of the Engineering and Support Services Department; Fatima Al Hosani, Director of the Public Relations Department for Patient Services; Dr. Mohammed Abbas, Director of the Marketing Department; and Dr. Muhammad Baytiya, Director of the Quality Department.
The visit began with an exchange of greetings between members of the committee and senior hospital officials, where they were briefed on the hospital’s work and policies in providing aspects of health services and therapeutic care.
The hospital team provided a detailed explanation of the various services available and the mechanism for receiving patients, reflecting an integrated environment for patient care.
During the visit, the committee reviewed the different treatment departments and the level of services provided. The tour included a visit to several vital departments, such as: physical therapy, family medicine clinic, aviation medicine, dialysis, emergency rooms, operating rooms, obstetrics and gynaecology ward, primary care clinic, magnetic resonance unit, general radiology, medical and diagnostic imaging department, nursing, fertility centre, and others.
The detailed explanation of the services also included clarifications about the modern technologies used in diagnosis and treatment, and the procedures followed to ensure patients’ comfort and safety.
