Arab Centre for Documentation and Theatre Studies kicks off

Sharjah 24: Members of the Board of Trustees met with His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah, Supreme President of the Arab Theatre Authority, during the opening ceremony of the permanent headquarters of the Arab Theatre Authority.

The board of trustees was honoured by His Highness presence, and thanked him for his contributions and care for fellow artists in the Arab region witnessing severe unrest, and His Highness praised their role, stressing the importance of this in these circumstances and his full support for the Arab Theatre Authority and its programmes.

This came on the second day where the Board of Trustees of the Arab Theatre Authority met in Sharjah on May 25 and 26, 2024. The meeting was headed by playwright Ismail Abdullah, Secretary-General of the Authority, and attended by eighteen members, in addition to the Director of the Publishing Department, Dr. Youssef Aydabi, and the Director of the Training and Qualification Department, Ghannam Ghannam, and Director of Public Administration Nasser Al Ali.

The members of the Board of Trustees discussed the establishment of the V, which His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi directed the Authority to implement. Practical steps were also put in place to activate the decision, through a special space for the Centre at the Authority’s permanent headquarters, and mechanisms were put in place to ensure the success of its work.

The trustees also discussed the achievements made from their meeting, which was held within the framework of the 14th session of the Arab Theatre Festival, organised in Baghdad last January. They also reviewed the recommendations and proposals of that meeting related to the work of the Authority in general, the Arab Theatre Festival, the Authority’s annual competitions, and matters of publishing, media, and training programmes. 

The Board of Trustees also formed work committees to be an effective arm in implementation and follow-up, and these committees were as follows:

The Intellectual, Publishing and Documentation Committee, consisting of Dr. Ezzedine Bonnet, A. Yousef Al Hamdan, Dr. Sami Al Jamaan, Dr. Saeed Al Siyabi, A. Hazza Al Barari, Dr. Moez Al Murabit.

The Communications and External Relations Committee consisting of Dr. Jabbar Jodi. Dr. Hassan Rashid, Dr. Habib Ghuloum, A. Hail Al Madhabi, A. Ali Al Falah, A. Rafiq Ali Ahmed, A. Muhammad Al Mansour

The Theatrical Education, Training and Qualification Committee consisting of: Dr. Ajaj Saleem, Dr. Saad Youssef, Dr. Muhammad Boukras, A. Solly Abdel Fattah, A. Fathi Abdel Rahman, Dr. Muhammad Boukras, A. Khaled Jalal.

Committees have been developing proposals that include different aspects of the Authority’s work and paths of development and sustainability in directing the desired results, which the General Secretariat will study to develop appropriate programmatic methods.

The playwright Ismail Abdullah, Secretary-General and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, stated on this occasion that under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, in establishing the Arab Centre for Documentation and Theatre Studies, the Centre saw the light in the permanent headquarters, and the Board of Trustees worked to put in place the steps that will ensure its success.

Ismail Abdullah added that the Board of Trustees possesses great vitality through the diversity of visions, knowledge and experience of its members, and with them achievements will be made and set strategies will be realised.
