Sharjah Islamic Forum tackles Islamic Fiqh kindness

Sharjah 24: Sharjah Islamic Forum organised the Sharia seminar under the title “Explaining the Rules Related to Harm in Islamic Fiqh” and hosted prominent figures from the Arab world in Fiqh. It aimed to investigate Fiqh rules related to harm and its rulings, and to anticipate the development of this prominent Fiqh concept in the life of society. The seminar was held over the course of two days at the Forum Theatre in Sharjah, it saw a wide turnout among students in Islamic studies and those interested in Islamic culture.
The seminar activities were opened with a lecture by Dr. Khaled Ali Suleiman, entitled “Rules of Necessity and Removal of Harm - Their Nature and Provisions”, during which he presented the concepts of Fiqh rules, the rule of inference and extrapolation of the validity of rules from Quranic texts, and explained the principles of removing harm in the field of tarjyah, clarification and analogy, and its extreme importance because of its high status for the role it plays. These rules, and the effort made to extract these rules, the most famous of which is Sheikh Zayed’s mastery of fundamentalist and Fiqh rules, which works to sustain rules, and presents them in innovative and easy ways, as it links the particles of Sharia with its branches, and gives the evidence a characteristic to address developments in life at all times and places.

His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al Haddad, Senior Mufti and Director of the Fatwa Department at the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai and member of the UAE Council for Fatwa, gave the second lecture entitled “Necessity and its Provisions in Fiqh”, and explained the virtue of necessities according to jurists. 

On the second day, the seminar touched on the topic of the rule of harm being removed - its concept and branches - Dr. Izz Al Din Ibn Zaghiba, where he explained that it is a comprehensive matter that applies to general details in order to know its rulings from them, and he explained the types of rules, which differ according to the branches, including the five basic ones. He also tackled a wide range of damage issues with their precise controls.

The seminar concluded with a topic on the rule of “There should be neither harming nor reciprocating harm”, and its applications in contemporary medical issues - presented by Prof. Dr. Abdul Halim Mansour, where he explained the wisdom of God in the dawn of the era and its developments in worship and customs, and the tolerance of legislation in Fiqh rules.

The seminar concluded with a number of scientific recommendations, the most prominent of which is the necessity of expanding the dissemination of the tolerance of Sharia law, and clarifying how Islamic Sharia dealt with harm in three stages: prohibiting harm before it occurs, removing harm after it occurs, explaining how removing harm after it occurs, in addition to working according to the principle of taking legal permission, such as breaking the fast for those who fear perdition, explaining many new developments  rules in issues and calamities.
