SCC Committee prepares recommendations in support of fish wealth

Sharjah 24: During its meeting, held on Thursday, at Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) headquarters, in the city of Sharjah, the Committee for Preparing Draft Recommendations prepared nine recommendations to be submitted to the Council. Recommendations discuss and formulate the policy of Sharjah Fish Resources within the framework of the Council’s keenness to support fishermen, the fishing sector, and the development of fish wealth.
The committee stressed the importance of the recommendations that would integrate with the Authority’s plans and policies in enhancing the successes of the fish sector, which represents the utmost importance in strengthening the economy of the Emirate of Sharjah and achieving SCC aspirations in accordance with its plans to develop fish stocks and meet the community’s need in this vital sector.

The meeting was chaired by Jassim Mohammed Al Hinawi Al Naqbi, Chairman of the Committee, and was attended by committee members Ibrahim Mohammed Al Mansouri, Issa Abdullah Al Kalbani, Obaid Ahmed Khasaw Al Naqbi, Mohammed Ali bin Salam Al Ketbi, Abdulaziz bin Khadem, Deputy Director of the Parliamentary Affairs Department, and Islam Al Shiwi, media expert.

During the meeting, the committee formulated nine recommendations, in light of SCC members discussion, in the previous plenary session on Sharjah Fish Resources Authority policy and recommendations submitted by SCC members.

During the preparation of the recommendations, the committee stressed the support and empowerment given by SCC to the role of the Authority, which reflects the interest of the wise leadership in the role of development in the field of fishing as a strategic dimension, supporting national trends towards food security, and continuing to take the necessary steps that keep pace with the aspirations of fishermen and fishing associations, educating the community to preserve this authentic profession.

At the end of the meeting, the Committee for Preparing the Draft Recommendations approved the formulation of the recommendations, which address the work, tasks and competencies of the Authority in terms of developing fish wealth, encouraging industries associated with fishing, and expanding the establishment of fishing villages at the level of the Emirate of Sharjah. All recommendations will be submitted to SCC in its next meetings within its work for the first regular session of the eleventh legislative term.
