Sharjah 24: The Education, Culture, Media and Youth Affairs Committee of Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) reviewed the efforts made by Al Qasimia University to continue its development and attract hundreds of students from all over the world annually to join its five colleges and empower them with science and knowledge.
The committee expressed its admiration for the scientific achievements and academic standing that the university has made since its establishment over the past ten years; how it continues to make efforts as a global scientific beacon to demonstrate the tolerance and moderation of Islam; and helps to graduate generations, from more than 113 countries in the world who contribute to building and prospering their countries.
This came during the committee’s visit to the university, on Monday, as part of its work for the first regular session of the eleventh legislative term.
The committee was received by His Excellency Dr. Awad Al Khalaf, Chancellor of Al Qasimia University.
He expressed his welcome to the visit, which enhances the concerted efforts and informs the council, as a parliamentary edifice, of the university’s achievements in the academic and scientific fields, and the vision of Al Qasimia University in spreading the concepts of moderation, especially since SCC was closely involved in supporting the establishment of Al Qasimia University, discussing its founding law, and contributed to strengthening its roles.
SCC delegation included Sheikha Ali Al Naqbi, Chairperson of the Committee; Dr. Ahmed Saleh Al Naqbi, Rapporteur of the Committee; Kaltham Saif Al Tunaiji; Sheikha Khalfan Al Dhanin Al Naqbi; Moza Maadhad Bin Howaiden; and Yousef Mohammed Al Mazrouei. From the General Secretariat of the Council, Hoda Al Hammadi, Secretary of the Committee, and Islam Al Shiwi, media expert.
From the university, Professor Dr. Hassan Al Malkh, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College of Arts and Human Sciences, and Ali Al Naqbi, Director of Public Relations.
During the meeting, His Excellency Dr. Awad Al Khalaf presented an overview of the university and the unlimited support provided by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, founder of Al Qasimia University, and His Highness’s follow-up of all stages of the university’s development and support to become one of the leading universities at all local, regional and global levels, with its advanced educational and residential facilities provided to students from different countries of the world.
His Excellency Dr. Awad Al Khalaf explained to SCC members the most important services and the upscale educational climate that the university provides to students, in addition to the privileges offered to students.
Al Khalaf confirmed the university’s keenness, in accordance with its strategic policies, to provide the finest services in terms of care and attention to all students in its five colleges (College of Sharia and Islamic Studies; the College of Communication; the College of the Holy Quran; the College of Arts and Humanities; and the College of Economics and Management), and its role in teaching the Arabic language.
Al Kahalf described the efforts made by the university family of professors and administrators in qualifying students based on the finest educational systems, and enhanced programmes, including activities, events and prizes, with the aim of returning to their homelands, contributing to their prosperity, and participating in supporting their progress.
SCC members discussed their opinions on a number of academic topics and discussed the mechanisms to support SCC to further enhance the university’s mission and its role in the fields of science, cultural exchange, scientific publishing, and student admission policies, in addition to the events and activities implemented to pay attention to the talents and creativity of students and introduce them to the components of the United Arab Emirates in general and the Emirate of Sharjah in particular, and mechanisms for following up and communicating with graduates.
SCC delegation toured the university’s facilities and viewed examples of the activities and programmes implemented and the most prominent educational services and policies, which enhance the university’s uniqueness in embracing more than 113 nationalities within its scope.
