Sharjah24: The Sharjah SEM “RUWAD” of the Sharjah Department of Economic Development organized the fifth edition of the community Ramadan initiative called "From Our Best Pioneers" in collaboration with the Sharjah Charitable Society. During the holy month of Ramadan, the initiative saw the distribution of approximately 16,539 Iftar meals with the participation of 11 projects from RUWAD’s members and a group of philanthropists.
Hamad Ali Abdullah Al Mahmoud, who heads the Sharjah Department of Economic Development, stated that the Foundation's continued organization of this charitable initiative confirms its commitment to social responsibility principles. This also highlights the positive impact of projects affiliated with the Foundation's membership, especially those operating in the food and restaurant sector. Additionally, other projects made an effective contribution in providing daily meals and distributing them to fasting individuals in various parts of Sharjah.

Al Mahmoud further explained that the initiative demonstrates how the UAE's entrepreneurship sector has become an influential player in supporting humanitarian causes, adopting charitable initiatives, and striving to provide a decent life for needy groups. It also plays an essential role in promoting economic and commercial development in society.

He pointed out that the number of projects participating in the initiative in this year’s edition rose to 11 projects, with a growth rate of 120% compared to the number of projects in last year’s initiative, which had the participation of 5 projects. The total number of meals distributed also witnessed an increase of 37%, as 13,289 Iftar meals were distributed, compared to 9,703 meals last year. This increase of 3,586 meals reflects the high level of demand and the specific interest of the member projects in registering their community presence through the initiative.

He extended his deep thanks to the male and female entrepreneurs who owned the projects who participated in supporting the initiative, as represented by the Akel Al Dar Public Kitchen, which provided 9,300 meals, Daar Tikka Restaurant, Tannor Mahra Public Restaurant, Vanilla Rose Café, Al Rayada Catering Services Est, Aglat Bahraini Kitchen, Qahwat Al Bandar For Popular Food, Fish and Shrimp Restaurant, in addition to other projects from outside the food sector that also participated in providing Ramadan meals.

He also extended his gratitude towards RUWAD employees and the Sharjah Economic Development Department staff who showed a keen interest in contributing to the distribution of meals to those who were fasting. This was done in conjunction with the celebration of Zayed Humanitarian Work Day which falls on Ramadan 19 every year.

In conclusion, he mentioned that since the launch of the "From Our Best Pioneers" initiative in 1439 AH, a total of 33 projects have participated in supporting it up until Ramadan of the current year. Furthermore, during the four years that the initiative has been organized, a total of 48,823 Iftar meals were distributed.
