According to Fatima Al Ali, acting director of the Ruwad Foundation, Sharjah is currently experiencing significant growth in business, activities, and productive industries related to the agricultural development sector. Vital projects in the emirate are working towards achieving sustainability goals, ensuring food security, and guaranteeing self-sufficiency in local food resources and high-quality products that support Sharjah's economy.
The workshop, attended by 11 entrepreneurs and a group of university students studying in specializations related to agriculture, sustainability, and food security, focused on the latest modern and innovative agricultural technologies and the most prominent practices, systems, and expertise that contribute to the growth and development of activities and projects aimed at enhancing food security. The workshop also highlighted the most important investment opportunities available in this sector in Sharjah, as it is one of the sectors receiving growing interest from the UAE government.
Moreover, the workshop addressed the definition of the basic concepts of innovation and its elements and provided a comprehensive explanation of the objectives and importance of advanced agricultural technology, modern production, and agricultural methods. The participants were also briefed on the agricultural innovations the Gracia Group has successfully implemented to increase and diversify agricultural production.
In addition, the participants learned about the goals that the national strategy seeks to achieve based on agricultural technology capabilities and techniques. They were also made aware of the most essential initiatives adopted by the country and Sharjah to encourage innovative projects. Finally, a realistic model was presented to achieve the comprehensive farm vision.
