Sharjah24: The Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work (SAVW) organised a Ramadan Majlis titled "Teaching Me Fasting" in collaboration with Al Hamriyah Suburb Council, affiliated with the Sharjah Districts Affairs Department, as part of its Ramadan initiatives for women.
The aim of the lecture was to deepen religious understanding and encourage women to maximize the benefits of fasting and engage in spiritual reflection.
Dr. Sameera Al Shizawi, a preacher at the at the Sharjah Islamic Affairs Department (SIAD), delivered a comprehensive lecture on fasting, covering its significance, impact, and benefits, emphasising its spiritual and social aspects, as well as its role in strengthening faith and self-discipline.
At the conclusion of the session, Dr. Sameera provided practical health tips for maintaining well-being during fasting, stressing the importance of personal development in this auspicious month.
Fatima Musa Al Balushi, Executive Director of the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work, expressed gratitude for the collaboration of the Sharjah Islamic Affairs Department, highlighting its importance in serving and educating the community.
Fatima also thanked Dr. Sameera for her valuable contribution, emphasising the significance of the Ramadan session in enhancing understanding of the spiritual, practical, and societal dimensions of Ramadan.
She underscored the Award's commitment to organising such lectures, and stressed the importance of utilising Ramadan to activate community initiatives which have a positive impact on society.
The attendance of 70 participants, including girls and women, was acknowledged, reflecting the Award's dedication to such sessions, which strengthen social ties and allow for the utilisation of Ramadan's blessings.
It is worth noting that the Award will host a Ramadan session for men on Tuesday, March 26, 2023, corresponding to the 16th of Ramadan 1445 AH, from 9:30 PM to 10:30 PM after Taraweeh prayer, and the invitation is open to all men.
