SCHS’s Khorfakkan branch organises 'With Awareness, We Can' event

Sharjah 24: Alaa Saif Al Eter, a speech and language therapist at Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS), Khorfakkan branch, confirmed the city’s keenness to support and empower people with Down Syndrome, and work to integrate them into society.
On Thursday, SCHS's Khorfakkan Branch, organised a panel discussion titled “With Awareness, We Can” at the headquarters of the “Hayakom Foundation”, in Souq Sharq.

The session was attended by Mona Karam, Director of SCHS Branch, Dr. Abdullah Al Belushi, Director of Khorfakkan Hospital, and a crowd of officials, representatives of government departments, and parents.

Alaa Saif AlEter said that the session came in conjunction with World Down Syndrome Day, with the aim of introducing the attendees to the importance of people with down syndrome and providing means of support and empowerment, and integrating them into society.

Speaking exclusively to "Sharjah 24," Alaa Saif Al Eter said that the session, in which a number of specialists in the city participated, discussed incorrect societal beliefs about Down syndrome, the role of the family in correcting these beliefs, and the most important pillars of integrating people with down syndrome into society.

Saif Al Eter indicated that an exhibition was organised on the sidelines of the session, during which she showcased SCHS’ employees’ creativity, including Al Zahia Farm’s vegetable products, Art Al Darza Factory products, and Danat Bakery products.
