Sharjah 24: The football and volleyball tournaments were launched at the Mleiha Sports Club stadiums as part of the Mleiha Ramadan Forum activities, under the slogan “Encounter and Communication”.

Captain Abdulaziz Al Anbari was honoured, on Wednesday, winning the title “Sports Personality for 2024”, in recognition of his career that extended from a prominent international player to a coach for the Sharjah Club and the Khorfakkan Club.

The ceremony was attended by Rashid Al Mohyan, Chairman of the Parents’ Council of Students in the Central Region; Mohammed Sultan Al Khasouni, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mleiha Club; Musabah Saif Awad, Director of Al Hamriyah Municipality; Salem Al Mayaleh, Director of Al Madam Municipality; Salem Rashid Al Ketbi, Secretary of Mleiha Club; Abdul Rahman bin Darwish, Director of Mleiha Youth Centre; and a group of attendees, representatives of the participating sports teams and a large audience.

Football competitions were held with the participation of ten institutions, including Mleiha Municipality, Al Dhaid Municipality, Al Madam Municipality, Al Bataeh Municipality, Sharjah Civil Defense Authority, Department of Planning and Survey, Mleiha Youth Club, Al Wusta Channel, with the participation of 100 players.

The tournament continues until the twentieth of Ramadan, with daily participation on the Mleiha stadiums, in the presence of a large audience.

Muhammad Sultan Al Khasouni expressed his great happiness at the successful launch of the football and volleyball tournaments within the activities of the Mleiha Ramadan Forum. Al Khaso praised the high level of competition and the sportsmanship emanating from all participants. He also expressed his deep thanks for the efforts made by all participating teams and organisers of this prominent sporting event.

Muhammad Sultan Al Khasouni also added that honouring Captain Abdulaziz Al Anbari with the title of Sports Personality of the Year 2024 comes as an appreciation and recognition of the wonderful path and important contributions he has made in the world of sports, and reflects society’s appreciation for his prominent role and valuable contributions in developing and spreading the spirit of sports in the local community.
