Sharjah 24: Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Member of the Sharjah Executive Council and chairman of Sharjah Department of Statistics and Community Development, witnessed the Sharjah Sports Council’s celebration of National Sports Day in its ninth edition at the “Kshisha Park” in Al Rahmaniyah Suburb under the slogan “The UAE brings us together” on Thursday, March 7th.
The event began with police music playing, a march for all participants, and various activities that included walking, sports performances, and competitions in football, volleyball, tennis, and physical fitness training. Everyone participated in the national occasion with great enthusiasm and interaction.
Also present at the event were Sheikh Khalid bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club; Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council; Abdul Malik Jani, Vice President of SSC, and members of the Board of Directors: Abdul Latif Al Fardan, Abdullah bin Mleih, Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Yasi, and Mohammed Sultan Al-Khasouni, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mleiha Club; Rashid Saeed bin Farish, Chairman of Ittihad Kalba Club, Ahmed Ali Al-Ketbi, Vice-President of the Al Hamriyah Club, Ahmed Hossan Al-Qadi, Secretary-General of the Khorfakkan Club for the Disabled, and a number of representatives of government and private agencies and departments, as well as Sharjah Police General Command and employees of the Emirates Cycling Federation. Department directors, heads, and employees of the Sharjah Council also participated in the event activities, along with club representatives from Sharjah, Al Qudra Fitness Center, and school students.
Issa Hilal Al-Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, praised the event and the large number of participants, and said that the occasion has profound connotations, and sport confirms its role and importance in creating joy and achieving national cohesion, affirming the unlimited patronage and support for sports by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and his wife, Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperon of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, thanking all participants in the event and those who contributed to its success.
Dr. Yasser Omar Al-Dokhi, Director of the Sports and Community Events Department, praised the success of the programmes of the ninth edition of the major event in cooperation with clubs in the emirate and a number of parties, in addition to the positive participation of the Council’s employees, stressing that the National Sports Day embodies the status of sport and its importance in promoting the health of individuals, and it has also proven that it is one of the best means of integrating the segments of society, as the National Sports Day expresses the importance and value of sports in the lives of members of society with their various identities and ages, indicating that the programmes continue in the emirate’s clubs in the evening, in addition to busy programmes on Friday, March 8, in the city of Khorfakkan.
