Sharjah24: The University of Sharjah’s (UoS) College of Sciences, through its Department of Chemistry, organised an interactive workshop for private high school students, providing hands-on experience to enhance their skills and enrich their knowledge across the fields of chemistry, biology, and physics.
The workshop featured a series of scientific experiments in the chemistry laboratories, equipped with the cutting-edge research facilities, specialized tools and equipment, all under the supervision of faculty members while adhering to safety standards. This initiative stems from the University's commitment to enhancing its academic role in inspiring the next generation to pursue in-demand majors.

Prof. Nouar Tabet, Dean of the College of Sciences, emphasized the significance of this workshop in fostering students’ understanding of chemistry and its importance in various aspects of life. He also highlighted that it provides a great opportunity for high school students to put theoretical concepts into practice by performing chemical experiments in the laboratories.

On the sidelines of the workshop, the College of Sciences hosted content creator and student, Hidaya Saleh Al Dhaheri from the International School of Creative Science, who expressed her happiness at fulfilling her wish to visit the Department of Chemistry. She actively participated in various chemistry experiments, such as the synthesis of soap, as well as other organic, inorganic and general chemistry experiments.

Additionally, the workshop included an introductory video showcasing the academic programs offered by the Department of Chemistry. It also highlighted the research projects and scientific studies undertaken in the department, as well as the career opportunities available for chemistry students.
