Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed toured the corridors of the library, which embodies the modern design concept of libraries in terms of the design of shelves and colours to create a calm environment for the place. He learned about the library’s facilities, such as group and individual study halls, open sessions, and multimedia rooms.
President of the University of Sharjah listened to an explanation about the additions to the library, where the capacity was increased to 750 people, and appropriate lighting was added to enhance the psychological comfort of students while taking into account complete privacy. He also viewed the glass study rooms and the small work rooms that provide students with a suitable environment for studying and stimulating learning and preparation of scientific research.
Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed viewed the books provided by the library, which are considered useful sources of information for students, as the library provides more than 15,000 printed books and more than 100,000 e-books, in addition to 35 electronic databases that include a large number of scientific articles, video clips, pictures, etc.
On the sidelines of the visit, President of the University of Sharjah was briefed on the latest halls that were created to accommodate the increase in the number of preparatory year students in the various medical colleges at the university. The hall, which was designed similar to the amphitheatre system and can accommodate 216 male and female students, contains the latest educational technologies such as smart screens and advanced educational programmes.
