Set to welcome its first cohort in the fall semester of the 2025/2026 academic year, the programme stands as a pioneering educational initiative designed to equip professionals and students with the skills to lead in critical and fast-growing sectors.
The orientation session drew participation from a diverse array of government and private sector organisations, underscoring the programme’s relevance across industries. Prof. Abbes Amira, Dean of the College of Computing and Informatics, emphasised that the new programme is part of the college’s ongoing commitment to staying ahead of labor market trends and delivering cutting-edge academic offerings. He described the new master’s as a unique academic platform that opens expansive opportunities for students and professionals alike, empowering them to enhance their expertise in the digital age. Graduates can look forward to distinguished career prospects in digital leadership, innovation management, technology consulting, and more, spanning industries such as finance, healthcare, government, logistics, and education. Career pathways include digital transformation manager, innovation strategist, technology consultant, digital product manager, and data strategy lead.
The event featured a detailed presentation by Prof Hussein Shukur, Head of the Department of Information Systems and programme coordinator, who provided an in-depth overview of the curriculum, objectives, and the scientific and practical opportunities available to participants. He highlighted that the programme is tailored to equip both students and professionals with a deep understanding of digital transformation tools and technologies. The curriculum blends rigorous theory with hands-on application across domains such as digital strategy, innovation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and data analytics.
Prof Shukur noted that the programme includes advanced applications in blockchain, the Internet of Things (IoT), and smart platforms, while also developing digital leadership skills. The curriculum is designed to foster the creation of sustainable digital systems and to leverage emerging technologies for strategic, data-driven decision-making. Ethical and legal dimensions of digital transformation are also woven into the coursework, ensuring graduates are prepared to build and manage responsible digital ecosystems.
The interactive orientation sessions sparked lively brainstorming and dialogue among participants, focusing on opportunities for collaboration between the college and various public and private sector entities. Attendees exchanged insights on the practicalities of implementing digital transformation projects in diverse work environments, paving the way for strategic partnerships that can drive institutional and societal digital change.
The session saw active involvement from a host of organisations, including Sharjah Communication Technologies Authority, Department of Culture, Sharjah Digital Department, Department of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Khorfakkan University, Sharjah Book Authority, Sharjah Ports Authority, the Arab Children’s Parliament, Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority, and the Sharjah Centre for Cybersecurity.
