Sharjah24: Sheikh Haitham bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Deputy Head of the Office of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah in Kalba, officially opened the 21st edition of the Sharjah Heritage Days in the Al Hisn neighbourhood of Kalba on Thursday.
The opening ceremony saw the presence of notable figures, including His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz Al Musallam, President of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, His Excellency Dr. Obaid Saif Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Municipal Council of the city of Kalba, and Engineer Abdul Rahman Al Naqbi, Director of Kalba City Municipality, alongside various officials and local residents.
In statements to Sharjah 24, Sheikh Haitham bin Saqr Al Qasimi highlighted the significance of the Sharjah Heritage Days as crucial events fostering communication and intergenerational connections, contributing to the preservation of popular heritage and the strengthening of social bonds.
He pointed out the distinctive nature of the event in Kalba, emphasising its location in a historically rich area that emanates the essence of the past. The event is held in the Al Hisn neighbourhood, in close proximity to the recently inaugurated heritage market.
The Deputy Head of the Ruler's Office underscored the leadership's profound interest in heritage, expressing their commitment to implementing new projects, restoring historical areas across the emirate, and promoting meaningful events dedicated to preserving cultural heritage.
The Heritage Village in Kalba comprises dedicated sections for various government institutions, museums, and heritage collections. Additionally, there is a comprehensive area for families engaged in producing traditional goods and crafts. The village serves as a platform to showcase diverse environments within the city of Kalba.
