Sharjah24: The Sharjah Charity International (SCI) has reported that it conducted 33 volunteer initiatives in the year 2023, involving 11,236 volunteers who put in 53,523 volunteer hours through the volunteer opportunities provided on its website. The organization has established an office to manage volunteer affairs and events, recognizing the importance of volunteering as a characteristic of high-end societies. It includes a large team of volunteers from diverse fields, such as engineering, medicine, law, education, information systems, and translation, including university students, pre-university students, and public and private sector employees.
According to Abdullah Sultan bin Khadim, the Executive Director, volunteering is a characteristic of high-end societies whose members value goodness and allocate time to it from their daily hours, in order to participate in charitable giving and knowledge or make an effort in a humanitarian way that reflects a great culture and awareness of the importance of active participation.

Bin Khadim also pointed out that the association includes a large team of volunteers affiliated with various specialized fields, including engineering, medicine, law, education, information systems, and translation. The categories of volunteers also vary between university students, pre-university students, and employees of public and private sectors. The volunteering section also includes volunteers, creating an integrated volunteer environment that can provide community service aimed at improving society.

The association has conducted about 33 community events over the past year, aimed at reinforcing its role in society by participating in events and organizing entertainment programs for children from needy families. Furthermore, it has paid attention to supporting the elderly psychologically and morally. The volunteer registration process is online and open to everyone.

SCI gives high importance to professional volunteers, particularly those directly related to its projects and charitable programs. Dr. Ahmed Al Kamali, a pediatric cardiologist consultant at Al Qassimi Women’s and Children’s Hospital, heads the medical team for the Association’s Little Hearts Campaign, which has been highly successful in saving the lives of more than 1,500 children with severe heart diseases in several countries worldwide. The campaign represents a successful model for specialized volunteers who have positively impacted the charitable process through their support and volunteer work.
