Sharjah24: The "Barakat Al-Dar" initiative stands out as a community responsibility project within the Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD). Its objective is to raise a sum of 3 million dirhams over a three-year period by launching a project that supports shelters. The project aims to garner community support to meet the needs and requirements of these shelters by constructing endowed buildings that ensure their financial sustainability.
Hessa Al Hammadi, Director of the Community Solidarity Department at SSSD, highlighted that the project is being executed in collaboration with the Department of Awqaf in Sharjah, responsible for endowed buildings in the emirate. Its purpose is to encourage benefactors to revive the tradition of endowments.
Al-Hammadi explained that this project is part of a series of initiatives and projects conducted by the department to support corporate social responsibility programmes. These endeavours are undertaken in partnership with governmental entities, private institutions, and contributions from the community. The department believes in institutions going beyond merely providing services to make a positive impact on the community and its members. Consequently, it launches various humanitarian initiatives and programmes with a positive effect on the community, particularly vulnerable groups, aligning with the emirate's approach to ensuring a dignified life for society.
The initiatives target various groups, including the elderly, children without social care, low-income families, socially deprived children, abused women, psychiatric and mental patients, and the children of prisoners.
Community Responsibility:
The "Barakat Al-Dar" project falls within the realm of community responsibility, a shared endeavour with companies to undertake specific actions based on a sense of responsibility and the adoption of a responsible policy towards the community or individuals in proximity. Responsibility is categorised into two types: social responsibility, involving actions towards individuals around them to enhance their well-being, relationships, skills, and provide a safe environment. The second type is community responsibility, encompassing participation in supporting community projects, providing support for voluntary work, sponsoring events, presenting community initiatives, and introducing sustainable operational initiatives.
